Welcome to the gatita ragdolls website...

Whether you are already a long-standing owner of these fabulous cats, new to Ragdoll ownership or considering becoming an owner , please feel   free to browse through the text and pictures and learn a little bit more along the way about the “softest cats in the world.”

ABOUT RAGDOLLS….Ragdolls first arrived in Great Britain in 1981 and were direct descendants of Anne Bakers Ragdolls.  The American, Anne Baker was the originator of the Ragdoll cat although documented evidence of it’s origins remains a little vague.

The Ragdoll is probably one of the most laid back of the cat family, in fact they are so relaxed that they go floppy in your arms like the soft doll they are reportedly named after.  Ragdolls are calm, quiet, easy to handle and possess an almost canine loyalty.  They are one of the prettiest of the cat breeds and have beautiful big blue eyes.

Friendly and affectionate, they love human company and are generally not interested in going outside, preferring the comforts of indoor life.  They are well behaved, gentle and careful to avoid scratching.  They are also extremely sociable and therefore good with children, dogs and other felines.

A friendly warning however!  There is a well known saying amongst their breeders and owners that “Ragdolls are Addictive”… so one may never be enough!

MORE ABOUT RAGDOLLS….

Ragdolls have light coloured bodies with darker markings to the face, ears, legs and tail, called colourpoints; these can be seal, blue, red, chocolate, cream and lilac.  These colourpoints can also be striped, ‘the tabby’, they can have white socks ‘the mitted’ and there is also the bi-colour Ragdoll whose facial colourpointing is broken by a white inverted ‘V’ mask and is minus the colourpoints to the legs, instead carry white through these areas.  The Ragdolls coat is moderately long, is very soft and sheds very little, therefore requiring minimal grooming.
